World's Shortest Personality Test

You are funky, outdoorsy, and down to earth.
While you may not be a total hippie...
You're definitely one of the most free spirited people around.

You are very impulsive - every day is a new adventure.
However, you do put some thought behind all your actions.
Still, you do tend to shock and offend people from time to time!

I miss our friends

Tonight Matt and I went to our favorite neighborhood restaurant. It is a great corner spot, huge patio, good food, great prices, happy hour... Everything you would want in a neighborhood joint. Tonight the breeze was perfect, the company of course was wonderful, and the sunset reflection off the building across the street was beautiful. And for some reason there was also a 2 piece band and an independent animation film festival going on. The band was so-so and we didn't want to wait for dark to see the films.

But, it made me miss our friends.

In the past, I would IM with my friend Molly and we'd decide that she'd take the train to my hood. Her husband, Ben, would drive over and the four of us would walk over for dinner. We'd always have such a good time with both of them. They moved to North Carolina in February, we miss them.

Coolest postcards EVER!

You MUST check out my sister's blog http://deborahsjournal.blogspot.com She has made an awesome series of bird themed quilt postcards! They Rock!

Can't you just picture them in a soft book for little kids! Add some great prose and you have a best seller.

Website updated

I updated my website yesterday! http://www.jjmhandcrafted.com I added some new projects and some pictures. I had hoped to add even more, but without the DSL I don't have the patience to upload. They say I'll get my modem tomorrow, and the DSL should be active by Thursday. I'm not holding my breath, I'm still not sure why it has taken 2.5 weeks for this to happen.

Things about this week:
My morning break partner is on vacation so this week I'm breaking with Chrissy.
My HGTV show airs again on Wednesday.
Payday
My last Service Ambassador meeting for the 2004-05 year.
Our friend Michael's birthday, sushi, and some DVD making.

For dinner:
A massive chicken breast from our friends the meat dealers. Grilled, it is still too hot for the oven. Green beans and a salad.

I'm off to break, I hope to have the will power to deny the delish hashbrown tater tots.

New adventure

My friend Katrina came over to hang out yesterday afternoon. I mentioned that I've been obsessing about branching off from my clay to work on a new business venture.

My friend Kathleen is getting married in November. I have been fortunate enough to help her select a wedding dress, there are some beautiful dresses out there, and some beautiful veils. The veils range from $125 to $1000+. Huh? $1000 for some beads and $.50 a yard material? I can do that. I made my veil for my wedding. I'll scan a picture and post later. (for some reason the only picture folder I didn't move from the old computer is the wedding??? so sad)

So anyway, I'm also a bit obsessed with wedding shows, all except for a wedding story, that one sucks. The bridal industry is HOT. And as of yet, unsaturated with 1000's of new companies getting in the mix. Katrina and I are going to become the best bridal veil creators in the world. We have tons of great ideas. Fun and funky bachlorette party veils, fancy veils with feather plumes, simple and elegant! I'm totally excited.

For research we are going to go pretend we are brides and try on wedding dresses.

Acid Reflux

My MD believes I have acid reflux. The lump in my throat is most likely my vocal cords inflamed by acid. Or it is something else altogether. I have to make an appointment with an ear, nose and throat doctor. They will scope my throat and view my lump. Or not. I have to take a prescription antacid for 2 weeks, and ideally in that time I can cancel the ear, nose, throat appointment.

Matt's last album was entitled Acid Reflux. You can listen to a tune at www.apehaskilledape.com

It is hot

It is has been and will continue to be over 100 for the next week +. If you don't go outside it isn't so bad, assuming you have air conditioning. The heat has cemented my love for our new ceiling fan, it really does make sleeping not bad at all. That coupled with the fact that it is 35 degrees cooler after 8:30.

We had a great weekend. Saturday we searched for the perfect corner desk. We found one at Desks 4 Less, where scratches and dents save you dollars and cents. I'm picking a brand new desk and new chair on my way home from work. Cross your fingers it doens't weigh one hundred million pounds and Matt and I can get it up the stairs without any trouble.

We had dinner with Ian and Deb on Saturday night. Matt has been friend with Ian forever, they use to be roommates a dozen years ago. They live in a great mission house that is 99 years old. It is beautiful. It was the first time that I've met either of them and we all hit it off great. I'm looking forward to the next time we get together.

After a slight change in plans Sunday we ended up bbq'ing with our neighbors. Matt makes a mean bbq rib. They soaked for abou 15 hours in coca-cola and then slow roasted for a few hours in the oven, followed up with a half hour on the grill. They are always really tender and super tasty! We always enjoy hanging out with our neighbors so it was nice they could fill in for our friends who had to cancel. I wouldn't want all that pork to go to waste! Hooray Pork.

2 more days until I have 120 channels, including the soap network! I'm a bit sad that I will no longer use the tivo, but I hope the new dvr will prove to be just as wonderful. I also hope that my new DSL equiptment will arrive today. How perfect would it be for the desk and the DSL to be installed in one sitting!?! I'm not sure if I'm suppose to disconnect the cable and the tivo on my own or will the dish guy do it for me?

doctors and dinners

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I've had a "lump" in my throat for like 3 months. It isn't really a lump, it just feels like a lump. I've self diagnosised myself with having GERD. I guess it makes sense given my history of GI issues, and then the family history of GI issues. My dad's problem was fixed with the little purple pill or the equivalent thererof. I hope that my MD will be able to fix me without a bunch of tests. I do not want to have another upper, and for sure no lower, GI test. YUCK. You can read my physician's blog feetfirst.blogspot.com

Is it weird that I read my doctor's blog? I don't plan on telling her.

Tonight I am going out to dinner with a group from work. We have worked together for a year to help improve the customer satisfaction ratings. It is a very diverse group, some nurses, some administrative, some physicians, we've met monthly for the last year and committed to an hour a week talking to the patients. I really like the group, dinner should be fun. I'm a little disappointed in the choice of where we are eating. When we were invited, we were offered a great steak place. I've been holding off on eating any beef so I could really enjoy a nice expensive steak. When I got the invite, it was to a pizza place?!? Pizza? Steak? I like them both, but come on. Bait and switch? I'm not even going to mention what happened with the $1000.

fake vs. real

I've been looking forward to entering a clay calendar contest. The mission statement is:

The 2005 Clay Lover's Calendar is an 12 x 18" (open size) full-color wall calendar featuring the work of Clayart participants from around the US and Canada (and one from Qatar, too!). As you turn the pages each month, you will enjoy the variety of style and color, brighten your studio and pick up new ideas.

I feel like I qualify as a clay artist. My preferred medium is indeed clay, polymer clay to be exact. I wanted to make sure that I would be eligible and emailed the company. What I received is "No, only potters working with real clay." Well if that is how you feel about it, I'll keep my entry fee and not buy your calendar. Screw the living tree clay company. I'll make my own damn calendar.

Random

In 2 weeks I can watch 90210 nearly daily.
In a week, no more dial up.
Next a computer desk

I have to redesign my site before 7/27. My HGTV show will air again, I might as well show off my new stuff.

Tonight we are going to Linda and Robert's for dinner. It'll be us, and 6 others. I can't decide if I should bring my swimsuit, I should. Hot tub, pool, wine...

I got another order for a switch plate, fish theme.

I'm looking forward to wedding dress shopping with Kathleen and Denise.

We are going to a Pow Wow with Rose and Or tomorrow night. My mom says we went to a pow wow when I was little. I don't recall.

The tree is sprouting new branches. I wonder how long one can keep a giant sequoia in their living room.

I'm really going to do it this time

This isn't the first time I've attempted to keep a blog, journal, whatever but this time is different. Maybe.
